Student registration is nearing capacity so students registering on or after Friday, January 8 wil be placed on a waiting list. Please go ahead and complete the registration application
so that we can match you if space becomes available.

- This application allows you to make preferences known for organization or position. An exact match cannot be guaranteed.

Hosts

Host an undergrad college student from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You aren’t asked to go out of your way to create an out of the ordinary day for them. Instead we want you to go about your regular business including them and sharing what a typical day is like in your profession. We also hope you will be able to share with the student about your career path. Students come from colleges and universities across the metro area as well as Mizzou, Northwest Missouri State, KU, K-State, and this year we have students coming from Oklahoma and Arkansas. Thank you for helping us showcase Kansas City’s nonprofit sector to these up-and-coming nonprofit leaders! You must pre-register online - deadline is Thursday, January 28.

What?

Nonprofit Connect announces its Fourth Annual Nonprofit Shadow Day! The nonprofit sector needs young, committed professionals. Nonprofit Shadow Day is a chance to share your experience and insight on the sector with the next generation of nonprofit leaders. On Shadow Day undergraduate college students spend the workday with a nonprofit professional like you.

Part One:  Breakfast and Panel Discussion on nonprofit careers (8:00-9:30 a.m.)

  • Shadows and Hosts meet for breakfast and panel discussion.

Part Two:  Host your Shadow Day student “on the job” (9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.)

  • Shadows spend the day with their Hosts to see what it is like to work for a nonprofit.  Additional information and suggested activities will be posted soon.

Who?

  • Shadows: All undergraduate college students who are interested in learning more about the nonprofit sector are encouraged to apply.  There is no cost to attend.
  • Hosts:  All nonprofit professionals who are willing to share their day with a college student are encouraged to host.  We would like them to see all aspects of your job--anything from meetings, to checking messages, to project work. We welcome  nonprofit managers (i.e. ED’s, COO’s, etc.), program staff, fundraisers, volunteer managers, and marketing and communications professionals.

Where?

Shadow Day begins at the Kauffman Conference Center (4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO 64110) with breakfast and panel discussion.
