Blues-Jam Birthday Celebration Honoring Legendary Guitarist Robert Johnson
KKFI 90.1FM’s Boogie Bridge presents a Robert Johnson Birthday Celebration on Sunday, May 6. Doors open at 1PM and the show runs from 2PM to 5PM. Hosted by Jason Vivone and The Billy Bats, this memorable blues-centric experience will be held at B.B.’s Lawnside BBQ located at 1205 E 85th St in Kansas City, MO. Born Robert Leroy Johnson, the legendary guitarist played many blues styles, though he is famous and beloved for his delta blues songwriting, singing and guitar playing. His musical mastery birthed a Faustian-style myth that still shrouds the Mississippi bluesman to this day. Eric Clapton called Johnson the most important blues singer that ever lived, and Robert Johnson’s contributions to the foundations of rock music earned him an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the organization’s inaugural ceremony. To this day, Robert Johnson remains an influential force and figure among emerging guitarists and aficionados of blues. Come join Kansas City area’s great blues musicians —Brody Buster, Bob & Diana Suckiel, Pat Nichols and Dave Williamson— and celebrate the birthday of iconic blues musician Robert Johnson. Ticket prices range from $20-$25 and benefit KKFI 90.1FM. Additional details can be found at www.kkfi.org/events.
