Inspired Fundraising Summit 2017 presented by Avila University
This event is presented by Avila University's Hartsook Institute for Fundraising and Hartsook Companies.
Be inspired at the 4th annual Hartsook Institute at Avila Inspired Fundraising Summit featuring two of the world's leading authorities on fundraising research and achieving growth in philanthropy – Professor Jen Shang and Roger Craver.
Professor Jen Shang, Philanthropic Psychologist and Director of Research at the Hartsook Centre for Sustainable Philanthropy at Plymouth Business School in the United Kingdom, begins the program by presenting The Future of Philanthropic Innovation: Philanthropic Literacy for Leaders.
- What might the future of philanthropy look like?
- How might we best pursue philanthropic innovation to solve some of the world’s great problems?
Roger Craver, disruptor and challenger of the philanthropic status quo, author of Retention Fundraising: the Art and Science of Keeping Your Donors for Life and editor of the internationally lauded The Agitator, a daily blog on fundraising trends, presents "Please Don’t Eat the Poinsettia: The urgent need to move from myth-based to evidence-based practices in fundraising."
Roger outlines why it’s time to call an end to myth-based and “best practices” in fundraising for which there’s little proof one way or the other. He explores why the use of the behavioral sciences in fundraising is most notable by its absence. In light of this breakthrough revolution in behavioral science, he warns against reacting the way fundraisers generally do: show great interest and appreciation for this new information before resuming their status quo behavior and continuing to do what they’ve always done. In place of the status quo he suggests workable, practical approaches for making the most of new evidence-based practices.
A philanthropy panel follows Roger's presentation. We are honored to welcome:
- Lamar Hunt, Jr., Founder of Loretto Foundation, Loretto Properties, LLC, and owner of the Missouri Mavericks
- Kent Sunderland, President of The Sunderland Foundation and Vice Chairman of Ash Grove Cement Company
This event is a must for fundraisers, CEOs, executive directors and nonprofit professionals at all levels in their careers. Reserve your spot before the event sells out!
