She will also discuss pitfalls of poorly planned or executed charitable gifts and offer some suggestions for avoiding them. Questions will be welcome. Presenter: Kathleen A.Forsyth earned her undergraduate degree from Emporia State University and her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Forsyth worked in the areas of probate and trust law for 15 years prior to her appointment by the 16th Judicial Circuit Court as Probate Commissioner in 1994. During that time, she was affiliated with several Kansas City law firms including Shughart Thomson & Kilroy PC, Linde Thomson Fairchild Langworthy Kohn & VanDyke PC, and Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP. Following retirement from the bench, Judge Forsyth continues to be involved in the legal community, serving as Senior Judge, offering services in mediation and consulting and authoring Missouri Practice volumes on Probate Forms and Evidence published by Thomson Reuter Westlaw.
