    • About

The Jackson County 4-H Foundation was established in 1956 with the purpose to provide a governing body for the granted land site on MO291 Highway in Independence Missouri from Glendale Farms and the Blevins Davis family. The Foundation was to meet the needs and advance the interest of 4-H clubs and youth work throughout Jackson County. Specific details are outlined in the Foundations By-Laws.

For many years the Foundation provided a home for the 4-H program and many other MU Extension activities and events. In the late 1980’s MU Extension moved to a new location decreasing the need for the large expensive and aging center.
In 2001 with the sale of the grounds and center the profits provided a new source of renewable funds and focus for the Board of Trustees. The Truman Heartland Community Foundation holds these funds.

In keeping with the ideals of the founding 4-H families the Foundation continues support of the 4-H clubs, and youth work in Jackson County MO. Currently the Foundation provides opportunity scholarships to Jackson County 4-H youth to attend leadership enrichment conferences and summits, international homestay exchange experiences, college, national awarded trips and local program support.

Looking to the future, the Foundation sees a greater presence in Jackson County & reuniting with 4-H alumni & friends in the area. The Foundations website & Face book page aide in connecting with interested parties.
The Jackson County MO 4-H Foundation is a 501-C3 nonprofit organization. It is listed with the MSECC & MOSec. of State status of Good Standing.
