Social Media on a Shoestring

So what’s your social media budget? Does considering this question provoke laughter, or even tears? It’s a given that social media can help share the story of your organization in engaging ways and is an important part of any marketing plan. And yet making time for it in our busy workday continues to be a challenge.
There is much to consider -- best platforms, best time to post, best content, and so-called best practices. Opinions are often frustratingly contradictory. Add to this the latest conundrum -- understanding Facebook’s recent change to the algorithm that determines what people see in their news feed.
As nonprofit professionals in small shops, we don’t have time to weed through all the noise. We want answers NOW. This workshop is geared for small nonprofits where social media budgets are small to nonexistent and social media management staff are the stuff of dreams.
Presenter Jen Wewers has been a nonprofit fundraising and marketing as a practitioner for over 15 years. She has specialized training in digital marketing as an Authorized Local Expert for Constant Contact. Jen will get real about social media and explore what is right for your organization (spoiler alert: there is no definitive right and that’s okay.)
Do you have a board member or volunteer with lots of ideas or opinions about your social media efforts? Consider bringing them along to this workshop where we’ll talk about the key social media platforms, nonprofit best practices for engagement, and resources you can use that are free or seriously affordable.
A program of the Marketing Matters series.
